Gail Gauvreau
From childhood I was drawn to sketch the human form and in particular, faces. While friends painted wonderful scenes of mountains, skies and rolling hills, I was reducing beautiful landscapes to fuzzy backgrounds as I inserted people into each and every work of art I produced. About five years ago I decided to focus almost exclusively on the art of portraiture. My primary goals are to continue to study my craft, improve the quality of my work and increase my knowledge of the techniques associated with present and past masters. My most recent focus has been on painting people in period costumes (also known as retro portrait painting).
